Dear Colleagues,

The “3rd Hands-on Paediatrics PzA”, the “3rd Congress of Ambulatory Paediatrics” and the “20th Annual Congress of the ECPCP” came to a very successful ending.

First of all, we would like to thank all, who were involved in the great success of this congress. Our special thanks go to the congress organisations: Mrs. Hell and collaborators from Interface as well as Mrs. Jaenisch and employees from CCJ and of course to the congress organisation of BVKJ Mrs. Schierbaum and all the other “good spirits” from Koeln. Many, many thanks to all of you. It was not just excellent work to realise this congress nearly perfect, but also a real feat to reconcile so many various people and organisations.

We also like to thank almost a 100 speakers, presidents and chairpersons for that wonderful input.

Furthermore many thanks to all industrial sponsors and all exhibit companies. Such an event would not have been possible, without their financial benefit.

Close to 600 participants (thereof around 200 medical assistants) from 12 European countries and from all parts of Germany found the way to Berlin this year.

The successful concept of 20 small, interactive seminars out of numerous core areas from our daily paediatric work could be realised again this year. Beyond that, lectures about language enhancement, influence of social and pedagogical factors on infantile development took place. In particular the children’s problems were discussed, which arise from their immigrant background.

In addition the reference was made to a threatening developing antibiotic resistance in Europe. Finally the influence of climate change on the extension of diseases could be identified.

The ECPCP tradition to bring all kinds of culinary specialities from their countries, present them on a really luxurious buffet and offer them to all participants for tasting was a great enthusiasm trigger. Here again, many thanks to all, who had their share in it.

20 years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall among great applause from the present European guests was the Berlin Wall symbolically collapsed again by us. The social evening was to give the visitors an overview of Berlin. Therefore a German-English speaking bus tour through the Berlin night was arranged. We passed all important tourist sights of Berlin with stopover at a cult “Currywurst” snack bar and ended up at the scene district Prenzlauer Berg, where all met again at the Frannz-Club.

We hope that our congress offer pleased everyone and brought new insights and know-how for the daily work in the medical practice.
